Patient Drop-Off and Pick-Up in Smiths Falls

November 04, 2020

The Covid Assessment Center continues to be located at the main entrance of the Smiths Falls site of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital (PSFDH). Since July 2020, the volume of services and procedures provided at the PSFDH sites has been increasing. As a result there has been an increase in vehicles utilizing the Emergency Department entrance located off of Cornelia Street for patient drop-off and pick-up.

To keep the Emergency Department entrance safely accessible to ambulances and other emergency vehicles, the following change will be made to facilitate short term parking for a driver waiting to pick up a patient.

Effective Wednesday, November 4, 2020, patients can continue to be dropped off and picked-up at the Smiths Falls Emergency Department entrance. However, we ask that for any extended waits, that you park in the Emergency Department parking lot. The parking gates will remain open between 7 am and 3 pm to allow a driver to briefly park in the lot while waiting to pick up a patient. For safety reasons, parking or extended waiting for any length of time is not permitted in the Emergency Department Entrance.

The COVID Assessment Center entrance is not for public use and we kindly ask you only use the Emergency Department entrance, where screening occurs.

The patient entry points located at the Emergency Department entrances at both the Smiths Falls and GWM (Perth) sites continue to be open 24 hours per day/7 days per week.

Mandatory COVID-19 screening remains in place and must be completed by all persons entering PSFDH sites. Please provide accurate information during the mandatory screening to help us protect you, our patients and our staff.

Our hospital is taking every possible measure to ensure patient and staff safety. People are reminded that if you require urgent/emergent care, please go to your nearest Emergency Department or call 911.
