Dr. Thomas (Tom) Morell Appointed New Chief of Staff

Smiths Falls, ON - The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital (PSFDH) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Dr. Thomas (Tom) Morell has been appointed the PSFDH Chief of Staff effective today, July 12, 2022. Dr. Morell succeeds Dr. Kate Stolee who served in this role for five years. The Board of Directors and organization offers its sincerest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Stolee for her outstanding contribution and service to our hospital in this role.

For thirty years, Dr. Morell has served our community as general surgeon at PSFDH and has been an active member of the hospital staff since 1991.

Dr. Morell has held several leadership roles with the hospital as President of the Medical Staff Association and has served as our Chief of the Department of Surgery. Dr. Morell has also been active to support operations within our hospital acting as a chair for a number of important committees focused on Quality Improvement and utilization of hospital services.

As Chief of Staff, Dr. Morell will be joining the hospital’s senior management team and also Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee. Dr. Morell is very proud to be part of PSFDH and the dedicated team of physicians and clinicians who are committed to providing safe and exemplary care to our community.

Along with Dr. Morell’s part-time administrative duties, he will continue to provide clinical care at PSFDH and within his private practice in our community.
