RE: Clarification of Obstetrical Services and Departure
of Local Family Physician
Smiths Falls, ON – The Board and Executive of Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital (PSFDH) wishes to clarify the Hospital’s policy with respect to Family Physicians participating in obstetrical care.
We welcome the involvement of both Family Physicians and Obstetricians in our Obstetrical Programme. We are very proud of the patient and family centred care model that exists at PSFDH.
We understand Dr. Lawson’s decision to give up those privileges and relocate to another community is grounded in unresolved issues in that Department. While we respect her decision, we regret that she feels that is her only option.
PSFDH is committed to working with our physicians to enable us to once again have family doctors wanting to work together with our obstetricians in the Obstetrical Programme.
“It is with regret that we accept Dr. Lawson’s plan to relocate from our community in early 2019. The PSFDH administration respects Dr. Lawson’s decision to leave her practice and relocate which came after many months of discussions with PSFDH colleagues,” stated Vickie Kaminski, A/President & CEO.
PSFDH continues to welcome family physicians who join our community and organization and seek to provide obstetrical services.
