Smiths Falls Site Redevelopment

The Smiths Falls site of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital is an outdated, aging facility in dire need of being brought up to today’s hospital standards.
The $43 million project (based on the most recent costing) redevelopment project will substantially improve the quality of patient care that the organization is able to provide to the community, and will greatly improve the working environment for personnel, physicians and volunteers.
The massive undertaking will encompass amongst other things, the demolition of the 1904 wing, extensive renovations throughout the remainder of the hospital building and the construction of a new multi-level wing on the existing site. Within this wing there will be:
- three new state-of-the-art surgical suites;
- a new Intensive Care Unit;
- a new and expanded Diagnostic Imaging Department;
- a new Post Anesthetic Care Unit;
- a new Obstetrical (Labour and Delivery) Unit, including four new birthing suites; and
- a new and expanded Ambulatory area.
Additional improvements:
- increased parking;
- easier access;
- improved heating and ventilation; and
- proper storage.
Areas we are renovating:
- Laboratory;
- Emergency;
- Rehabilitation;
- Medical/Surgical patient rooms;
- Physical Plant Department;
- Health Records Department; and
- Pharmacy.

Local businesses, national corporations and foundations, service clubs, community organizations, as well as community residents will be asked to give.
