Upgrades Slated for the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital

Smiths Falls, ON – Close to $700,000 will be spent at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital thanks to the Hospital Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) dollars allocated by the South East Local Health Integration Network.

This is the sixth year that the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital has prospered by receiving HIRF dollars.  “We have been very fortunate to receive significant portions of dollars from the Ministry as well as by the South East Local Health Integration Network and we are extremely grateful to them for their support of our organization,” said Todd Stepanuik, President & CEO.

These investments in building upgrades and repairs are investments in patient care.  Brian Allen, Vice President, Finance & Support Services stated, “We are delighted to receive this much needed funding.  This money is an investment in both hospital sites.”

The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital has identified thirty projects for this year of which twenty five are scheduled to take place at the Great War Memorial (GWM) Site.  The projects at the GWM Site include: a patient security system, replacement of carpeting, window replacement, exterior brick repair, roofing, air conditioning upgrade and other plant operation upgrades.  The funding allows the hospital to proactively maintain the existing facilities.

All of the projects are expected to be completed by the end of this fiscal year.
